What is the weight or volume of a typical hydrogen bomb and how much damage can it cause?

The size or power of the hydrogen bomb varies according to the type and budget of the project.

Let us give the example of Tsar Bomba [1] , the largest and most powerful hydrogen bomb ever made The Soviet-built Tsar Bomba weighed 28,000 kg, was 6 meters long, and 2.1 meters wide. The total effective power of the bomb was 56 megatons or 240 petajul. The bomb was dropped at an altitude of 10.5 km above the ground.

The bomber struck shortly after noon in Sukhoy Nos [2], a peninsula on the northern Russian island of Severni The eruption created a 6-kilometer-wide fireball.

The mushroom cloud of the explosion rose to an altitude of about 67 kilometers which is more than seven times the height of Mount Everest! The peak of the mushroom cloud extends over 95 km and its base was 40 km wide.

The deadly blast destroyed all buildings in the area, 55 kilometers from Ground Zero. Hundreds of kilometers away, wooden houses were destroyed, sheds, doors, windows were broken and their radio communication was cut off for about an hour. Severe thermal radiation spread to a distance of 260 km. The epicenter was reported at a distance of about 1,000 km. According to Nuke Map, it was capable of causing at least 3,000 times more damage than the bomb dropped on Nagasaki by the United States!
